Status Report: Genesis

Joe:  I have played 40K for about 12 years now. I am primarily a Space Marine player, but over my time in the hobby and my love of modeling, I've collected many armies including, but not limited to Imperial Guard, Chaos, Demons and Tau. I started with Dark Angels, went to Imperial Fists and now, I am creating a unique chapter called the Knights of the Sepulchre. They are "collectors of corrupted gene seed" and will eventually employ Grey Knight allies. I'll get into more details in time. Thanks for stopping by.

Garrett:  I have been paiting miniatures ever since my first trip to the game store in 1979. Fast Forward a few years and I really began playing Warhammer heavily in the 1990s with Brettonia and Savage Orc armies. After playing video games way too long at the turn of the century, I got back into tabletop in about 2008 starting again with Warhammer 40K. My son wore a Warhammer Online hat to his day care and I happened to run into a father who played 40K. It was back to the addiction. Over the past few years I have built a Space Wolf and Ork army. Now with this new Blog I am going to be working on Chaos Marines, Emperor's Children to be exact. I have seen so many Chaos armies and with the new rules, there is a ton of Nurgle and Khorne running around. So the Dark Prince and I had a chat, and Emperor's Children it is. Our group plays in Ny and NJ. There are a lot of us. Time is always against us with our jobs and families. However, 40K is just too much fun and I am very psyched to convert, paint, and field a kick ass Noise Marine army. Cheers Everyone!

Terry:  Hi,  I'm Terry and I am the resident lazy sumbitch.  I'm 46 years old and I have been playing 40K since the beginning, back in '87.  I worked for GW as manager in the NYC store for a couple of years, and in that time I got to meet and learn from a TON of great artists and players; people like Tim Lison, Bobby Wong, Victor Hardy, Jason Morales and Trent Nighman.  So my working knowledge of modelling and painting is pretty solid, but I confess to being HORRIBLY slow and I could probably stand to get more hours in to sharpen my techniques.

My gameplay style is sort of a cross between fluff-monkey and competitive tourney player, meaning I try to put together competitive lists that still maintain the army's flavor.  I have owned and played many armies over the six editions, but recently I culled my collection down to Space Wolves and a Storm Warden army that is in progress.

The Storm Warden project has consumed most of my 40K times recently, it's an assault-heavy army based on Blood Angels rules and Deathwatch the table-top game fluff.  Given 6th Editions castrating of the assault rules, my army is a little bite-less right now, but I figure by the time I get two thousand points built and painted the Blood Angels rules will have come out, and they will get a little bite back.

I have a few articles in the works, mostly talking about the design and building of the Storm Warden figures, I used a lot of alternative parts from various sources, and I will see about getting some decent photos of the army as it comes along.

Jeff:  I have been playing Warhammer in some form or another since about 87ish, I remember shoveling snow for money and hitting the mall right after and bought my first minis; a Citadel blister of skeletons. They were lead then but the hobby as a whole has come a long way. I have gone through some different chapters with armies and such and Warhammer is still in my heart but 40k to me is where it is at. I love the fluff and have read and/or listened to so many of the black Library stuff it has felt as though I know the galaxy from a different view.

I have my old favorite the Black Templars, and am eagerly waiting for a 6th addition codex, Death Guard and World Eaters come in next, and then my back burners projects are Red Scorpions and Salamanders. I love both painting and Modeling and think myself to be pretty good at both. I am always ready to induct new people into the cult of the 40k verse. Play for fun and love the spirit of the rules more than the rules themselves sometimes J Only in death does duty end!!!!
